Description

Sleeplessness or insomnia can take two forms: difficulty in falling sleep (sleep-onset insomnia) or frequent or early awakening (sleep-maintenance insomnia). The most common causes of insomnia are psychological in nature, such as anxiety, depression or tension. Other causes may be food items, drinks or medication that may be taken during the day or before bedtime. Such causes should be identified and eliminated.

The formula contains a number of natural sedatives that may help with insomnia. Lemon balm has been traditionally used to treat nervous agitation and sleep disorders and works by stimulating the brain’s acetyl choline receptors; theanine is a component of green tea which is known to induce relaxation; inositol relaxes nervous tension and encourages sleep while valerian extract stimulates the activity of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) which dampens the brains arousal system; tryptophan is converted to serotonin and melatonin, hormones which have a positive effect on the sleep-wake cycle. Other nutrients play a synergistic role.
