Description
ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a syndrome mostly affecting school age children which is characterized by the following symptoms: hyperactivity, coordination problems, short attention span, impulsiveness, learning disabilities, and disorders of speech and hearing. Causes seem to be sensitivities to certain food additives (eg. tartrazine) and deficiencies due to modern eating habits.
Treatment involves appropriate supplementation and correcting the immune response.
VitaminB1, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, magnesium, manganese and zinc are important nutrients in brain and nervous system function. The essential fatty acid gama-linolenic acid (GLA) also plays an important role, especially in cases where eczema, asthma, hay fever and allergies occur, all of which may indicate a faulty immune response; GLA is converted to prostaglandins, particularly PGE1 which helps to regulate the immune system.
