Description
Cerebral vascular insufficiency refers to a decreased blood flow to the brain and is usually caused by blockage of the carotid arteries (atherosclerosis), the main blood vessels supplying oxygen and nutrients to the brain.
Symptoms include short-term memory loss, dizziness (vertigo), headache, ringing in the ears (tinnitis) and impaired mental function (senility). Severe disruption of blood and oxygen supply can result in a stroke (loss of nerve function to part of the brain).
Treatment is aimed at improving blood flow and reducing the factors leading to atherosclerosis such as blood platelet adhesion, high cholesterol and blood vessel integrity.
In the formula ginkgo, green tea and willow bark extracts help to reduce blood viscosity while vitamin C and grape seed extract help to strengthen the blood vessel walls. Other ingredients play a supportive role.
