Description
Allergies are hypersensitive reactions to chemicals or materials in the environment (allergens) and are usually characterised by a watery nasal discharge, sneezing, and itchy eyes and nose. In allergen-sensitive persons the allergens stimulate the production of immunoglobulin E (IgE) which bind to mast cells and cause the release of histamine from storage granules; histamine is the compound responsible for all the allergy symptoms.
Treatment is aimed at regulating histamine levels and also to alleviate symptoms.
Grapeseed extract and quercetin prevent the release of histamine from tmast cells; vitamin C helps to deactivate histamine while feverfew and bromelain have anti-inflammatory effects. Acetyl cysteine, fenugreek and bromelain help to reduce the viscosity of mucus and thereby relieve congestion. Other ingredients play a supportive role in the various biochemical pathways
