Description
Asthma may be regarded as an allergic disorder which is characterised by constriction of the airway tubes by excessive swelling of the mucous membrane lining the lungs, and the subsequent production of a thick, viscous mucus, which can lead to the inability to breath.
Treatment is aimed at alleviating the allergic reactions and reducing the incidence and viscosity of mucus.
Boswellia, ascorbic acid and bromelain play a role in the metabolism of mast cells and the formation of histamine which is involved in the allergic reaction; bromelain and acetyl cysteine reduce the viscosity of sputum, while magnesium prevents spasms and hence constriction of the airway tubes. Other ingredients play a synergistic role
